What I Wore Wednesday...

On Wednesday I wore a gray plaid skirt that I got at Old Navy years ago. In addition, I wore a white boat necked short sleeve knit top and a denim jacket. Both the top and the jacket are from the Gap outlets near our home.

I also wore black peep toes from Payless and a black quilted diaper bag by Vera Bradley. You will be interested to note, that the black and white paisley scarf (I have no idea what brand it is) was on my head during the Liturgy Wednesday night!

HI. My name is Rebecca and I just happened upon your lovely blog and wanted to tell you so. :-)

I am a 24 mama to two kiddos-girl first, then boy and what a life we lead! The name of your blog caught my attention, as that holds a dear place in my heart.

I am going to head to the library to borrow that GLH book...the other two photographed I already have for the kiddos. ;-)

I also came just came across your blog today via the a Commitment to Loveliness button (which I plan on joining this week--what a great idea!). I've enjoyed looking around your blog and just wanted to leave you a not. Oh, and I'm also a happily married 26 years old momma to a baby girl (my baby just turned 4, though!).

I love the concept of "commitment to loveliness". I'm in the process of losing weight and don't have many feminine clothes right now. You've inspired me to add some loveliness back to my life!

Emma,how lovely-feminine and elegant.
And you had your head covering-so happy for you!
With that jacket, and those smart shoes you would have convinced and inspired me !
I like the idea of make photos of your cloths.
I have been asked several times to show my week in dress, since i am a" dress only lady " LOL -and also my two girls ,but my husband is not so happy about me taking my photos, and definitely not our girls ,on the net.
Not that I think ladies who do show their photos are doing something wrong,
I am very much inspired by them,i just feel there 's so may unknown risk on the net if you understand how I feel ?
Maybe this is an idea...
Please show us more, spring is such an wonderful time for the lovely little details and assesories, and you sure do know how to use them! Thank you for sharing.

Rebecca -

It is so nice to meet you! Thanks for visiting! I have been lurking on your blog for awhile and will definitly post a comment soon:)

Hi Mandy!

Thanks for dropping by! It is great to meet you! I will be sure to pop by your blog in the next few days! This week has been so busy!

Hi Andrea!

I'm glad that you were inspired by this blog! Congratulations on your Christmation again! I can't wait to read about what you do with your Pascha basket cover!

Hi Emilie!

My hubby and I feel the same way about putting photos online. Sometimes I wish that I could share "people pictures" of our family, but for us, it is better this way!

The idea to spread the clothes out on the floor or hang them up was Hubby's idea:) I am glad that it worked out!

Thank you for all of your compliements!

Hello Courtney!

Gap outlets are a terrific invention! Well made clothes at good prices! Love it!

Our week was CRAZY!

I am so glad that your baby's teething is easing up a bit... Now the fun of packing can commence!

Love,
Emma

I've so enjoyed your blog! I am cutting way back on the blogs that I read, but I think that yours will remain one of my regulars because of how lovely it is and how lovely your spirit is.

I love this outfit! I have noticed that all of the outfits you have posted before (and on your other blog) were all very pretty, and while lady-like, were also relatively modern. Do you have any way that you try to shop? For instance, do you try to stick to a particular color scheme, etc.? I am the worst clothes shopper, and I always end up with bits and pieces of outfits.

Also - when you cover with a scarf, do you use a triangular, square, or rectangular one? How do you keep it firmly attached to your head so your little one cannot grab it? Sorry for so many questions, I just love the idea of wearing a scarf that coordinates with my clothing instead of my white covering I use now, and am not sure of the logistics of using a scarf. Thanks!

Hi Jamie!

I think that that very old Old Navy skirt is my favorite! It is so comfy and looks good with just about anything! I will be sad when it is time to retire it!

Hello. Pearl!
Thanks for visiting! I am definitely going to hop over to your blog and check out your outfit! Thanks for letting me know:)

Hello Tiffany!

Thank you so much for the lovely compliments you wrote! It really flatters me that you are going to continue to read this blog!

My outfits all kind of have a more modern edge to them, I guess. I am a pretty tall woman (5'11") and went through a phase where I tried to wear dresses and skirts that had floral patterns. It was *so* not me. I really prefer simple and solid colored clothing the best (for wearing). I am a bit envious of women who look gorgeous in flowers, flounces, and lace, but know that they simply don't work on me! It might be because I lived so close to New York City and was influenced by that fashion! :)

I usually try to pick knit tops and a-line skirts. Most of my skirts are either plaid, tweed, or solid colored. My tops are all solid colored too. I really love cashmere sweaters, but can't really wear them with a baby:)

In order to keep my clothes from looking too stark, I try to find pieces with interesting details like embroidery, nice buttons, or even a bit of crocheted lace in the same color as the piece of clothing it's on.

I love bags and purses that are really lady-like: all of my bags (except the diaper bag) have short handles and can't be slung over my shoulder. Most of my shoes are kitten heels or flats and have bows, buckles, sling backs and/or peep toes.

Since I look best in blue-based clothing, I usually go for violet, lavender, blueish pink, blue red, browns, blacks, grays, sapphire blues, etc. Since the majority of my clothing is solid, almost all of it can go together.

As for scarves, I usually wear square (folded into a triangle) or rectangle shaped scarves. With a baby, I have found that tying the scarf securely at the base of my neck provided the least opportunity for baby-removal! I usually leave my hair out of a clip or ponytail holder and then tie the scarf like this: http://www.sanders-studios.com/fineart/artpics/figures/lavenderkerchief.JPG
This usually stays up, but if it doesn't, I just start over again even if I'm in church.

Let me know if you have more questions!

Emma
