A New Jan Karon Series...

Mitford fans take heart! Jan Karon has written a new book entitled Home to Holly Springs. Here is the synopsis:

Readers of the nine bestselling Mitford novels have been captivated by Jan Karon’s “gift for illuminating the struggles that creep into everyday lives—along with a vividly imagined world” (People). They learned quickly that “after you’ve spent time in Mitford, you’ll want to come back” (Chicago Tribune). Millions eagerly awaited the publication of each novel, relishing the story of the bookish and bighearted Episcopal priest and the extraordinary fullness of his seemingly ordinary life.

Now, Jan Karon enchants us with the story of the newly retired priest’s spur-of-the-moment adventure. For the first time in decades, Father Tim returns to his birthplace, Holly Springs, Mississippi, in response to a mysterious, unsigned note saying simply: “Come home.” Little does he know how much these two words will change his life. A story of long-buried secrets, forgiveness, and the wonder of discovering new people, places, and depth of feeling, Home to Holly Springs will enthrall new readers and longtime fans alike. -fantasticfiction.com

Yes, I noticed her new book had come out. The funny thing is we just started reading her series on our anniversary this summer. My husband loves the books so much that he is now on the 7th book. I have only read 4 because I have a back log of books to read!! But the wonderful thing is the spiritual side to those books. My husband has learned quite a bit about himself spiritually by reading these books! Plus they are just fun. And I have her cookbook and made the orange marmelade (sp?) cake for my grandbabies birthday--it is posted on my recipe blog--also puny's potato salad recipe! ;-)

I never started the Mitford series. But I certainly plan on reading this one. I'm originally from Mississippi. Holly Springs is a beautiful old town. I love stories about familiar places.

I *just* finished the Mitford series yesterday! I think that I'll probably take a break from Karon and dive into a little Anne of Green Gables now, but this book is definitely on my list of "must-reads."
