Forty Days with Natalie...

This is a beautiful article written by a woman who took full advantage of the Orthodox tradition of taking forty days to recuperate and welcome a new child into one's life. Enjoy!

I love the article, thanks for the link Emma!
At just 4 weeks post-partum, I got slammed with mastitis. I remember spending the day prior running around and trying to help plan a friend's wedding shower. Now I look back and wish I had taken it a little slower. Getting sick certainly forced me to do so.

This next time around, I plan to take my 40 days more seriously. It's funny how we women put so much pressure on ourselves to "get over it" and appear to have "bounced back" asap. *sigh* Lord have mercy!

Thank you for sharing about this tradition! Although I am not Greek Orthodox, I think that this is a wonderful and practical idea! I think I may try to do something like it next baby (God willing), you have got me thinking. : )

I read that article a while ago and really liked it. If I have children I want to do that too. The first few months of a babies life are so beautiful and precious, I wouldn't want to miss a minute of it!
