"To stay happy, stay hidden," that is cute and true!
I ordered some of the books you quote from, from the library. I just picked up Victoria Bath and Beauty yesterday and Better Than Beauty. I just looked through them, but they both look good. The original copywrite from Better Than Beauty was 1938, some things are just timeless.
One of my favorite quotes regarding knees comes from L.M. Montgomery's book, A Tangled Web.
"A thoroughbred, every inch of her. Showed her knees too much, of course. But at any rate knees that could be shown. Not like Virginia Powell's knees - knocks that affronted the daylight."
(I am really enjoying this blog. It has been an inspiration to me to attempt to act in a more ladylike manner. Thanks! And please keep up the good work.)
Hello Mrs. R.! I hope that you enjoy the books... The Victoria book is from our library too:) I am thinking about picking it up on Amazon though. I miss Victoria magazine so much. My mom and I subscribed for years, but tossed old issues without thinking:(
Hi Joanne! What a great quote! I haven't read much of L.M. Montgomery (just Anne of Green Gables and Kilmeny of the Orchard), but after that quote, I think I'll have to borrow a few from the library! Thanks for the recommendation! Thank you for the complient too!
I am really enjoying your blog, too. I wish that more women made an effort to be ladies, or that they would even admire those who do! I hope that we can be good role models so that the next generation of girls can be a generation of ladies.
I totally agree, Miss Gerund! I have been enjoying your blog as well. I confess that I don't have the greatest grasp on grammer, but I think that I'm learning a bit by reading your blog!!

I could not agree more! I strive to keep my knees covered at all times. I really hope this catches on with the younger generations.
Me too!! Let's start a trend!
