Faux Thanksgiving...

Since we will be in the midst of the Nativity Fast when Thanksgiving rolls around, we decided that we would celebrate a little early. I made all the typical foods we all love: chicken (turkeys are too big for our little family), stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and gravy. It was delicious!

Looks delicious! We're going to my parents' for Thanksgiving this year so I'm not cooking much.

So glad someone else is doing "Faux Thanksgiving". We will be celebrating early with my family next Saturday as we will be going to visit my boyfriend's family on Thanksgiving itself. This will be my first Thanksgiving away from my own family so I for sure wanted to celebrate a Faux Thanksgiving with them! Kelly

That is beautiful! Is that your actual table?? When does your Advent start? OUr is Dec.2 Advent is by far my favorite liturgical season...even with the penance!! We have a HUGE Fontinini nativity set (by huge I mean it takes up an entire wall of our dining room) that we always set up after the First Sunday of Advent Mass. I will post pictures of it on my blog once we put it up.

We are doing Thanksgiving at my mom's too...All I am in charge of is a sweet potato dish! Got any good recipes?? I am totally at a loss (and preferrably something without pineapples!)

Thanks for the Nativity Fast link - I didn't know about that! (I'm Roman Catholic.) Very interesting.

I have friends who do the same thing. As vegetarians, our Tofurky meal is Lenten friendly, but we partake with our extended family and give thanks that we have extended family to partake with.
