In Against Heresies, St Irenaeus decries the gnostics for their claims to "perfect knowledge" which even the Apostles can not have without the Holy Spirit.
Thus the reason I chose the wording that I did. Nuance did me in! LOL!
Good quiz.
And public confession has also been practiced by St John of Kronstadt. No yikes about it!

I'm not from an Orthodox Church background, but I got them all right! However, here's my public confession: even though I've taught short courses in church history, I had to look up four of the answers to be sure. I hope this confession will not result in martyrdom! Fortunately, my husband and I have a pretty good reference library.
