Diaper Bags vs. Handbags...

Helen asked in my accessories post how I fit everything I need to carry for the little ones into my handbag. Fortunately, I wrote a post on that awhile ago:) Some things have changed since that post. I no longer have a nursling and Sugar Plum is potty trained. Little Man is still in diapers though and of course, God Willing, we will have a new little one in a few months. Honestly, I use our car (we live too far from anything to walk for errands) as a huge diaper bag. I keep a change of clothing for each child in a tote in the trunk. I have a box of wipes, several diapers, a change of underpants, and some plastic bags to hold dirty clothing/diapers. These things are especially helpful to us because Little Man gets carsick quite frequently and we are often somewhere where throw-up is very inconvenient (as if it could ever be convenient!). So, that is how I do things! I hope that helps, Helen!

I do the same thing. I have always used a purse as a diaper bag- they are much nicer looking and not so bulky. Since we always have our car wherever we go, it is much easier to just leave things in the car and bring only the essentials into where ever we are going. :)

My diaper bag is just starting to wear a little thin at the seams, after three years and two kiddos. I love your idea of keeping things in a tote in the car. That sounds so much more convenient! Maybe I will experiment and see if that works for us, too. Especially since we cloth diaper (and I have 2 in diapers), they take up soooo much room in my bag!

Dear Emily

How sweet of you to respond to my question with a blog entry! We live in a city and don't have a car, so my problem is that everything has to be packed into the diaper bag or the bottom of the buggy.

Your advice has given some food for thought. Thanks!
