What? can you please explain what minutes 1:12-1:36 means?

This section of the video is in response to the once saved always saved idea. Basically, in the Orthodox Church (as in Holy Scripture), verbal confession of Jesus Christ is not enough. Salvation is about being in the right relationship to Him: truly loving Him by following His commandments in humility, being filled with the Holy Spirit rather than the spirit of the world, etc.. The idea that salvation is guaranteed independent of our choices is not an Orthodox teaching.

Oh! Thank you for explaining. This is sooooo contrary to the way I was taught to believe!

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I think if you really believe Jesus and love Him, you will try to always do His will. But I think it is important that you are not afraid to lose your salvation because you have sinned. On the other hand, I think you can walk away from God's gift, living in lawlessness or in disregard to Christ's teaching.

I really like how the video emphasizes the process of salvation. Growing up protestant, I always felt that you were saved at a particular point in time and that was, well, that. Life's not like that. Salvation is a lifelong process. Nobody told me that in a way I could understand until college. We protestants tend to severely underemphasize verses like the one about working out your salvation in fear and trembling.

Thank you so much for sharing. I am learning so much about faith through your perspective.
