Dry Run for Our Feast Day Shelf...

I gathered all of the things I thought I would need to transform our shelf from the Wintery scene to a Meeting of the Lord one. I decided to try it out this afternoon while the children were playing (somewhat happily). We have the book on the feast (which the children will receive the day of), our wool nativity figures (yes, we found them!!), new candles to be blessed at church and used during the feast, and a few other little bits. I woluld really like to have some fresh flowers or a plant as well... we'll see how it goes. I'll be setting this up for real either before or after Vespers on Sunday night.

It looks really nice! The stacker does work well as a stable and I like the natural much better than the colored one. Maybe I'll trade mine...

So glad you found the little wool figures; they are so sweet. What a neat idea! I love the thought of displaying the book for a particular feast day. I may "steal" that one :)

I love this idea! I think it is so special for children to know the feast of the day. A friend of mine puts an icon of the saint of the day in their prayer area every day. The kids really like it!

Where were they?

This is one of my favorite feasts - I mean I say that about all of them, but St. Simeon's canticle makes me teary.
