I loved this article on Purposeful Mothering by The Natural Mommy. I have been trying to do this with my children (there a lot of room for improvement on my part - I am seriously OCD about some things) and was very encouraged by what I read. Enjoy!
I need to work on this too...I usually start out all right, but as the day goes on, my patience just starts to wither away and I want to get things DONE. I think I'm going to print this article and save it for my DH to read as well.
Great article! I try very hard to do this with my children. My little man loves to help me with the laundry and whenever I am cooking, he pulls up a chair next to me so that he can help out. He could perfectly crack an egg at about 2 1/4 years old.
My poor hubby doesn't have any skills when it comes to helping around the house; so I am purposefully trying to give my son these skills so that he can take care of himself or, possibly, help our his future spouse (if the Lord so wills). Fortunately, he loves helping out. I hope his little sister follows in his footsteps.
I need to get back into this. Ever since my #2 was born in May, I've been slacking in encouraging my two year old to help with little tasks. Ah! Good reminders!!! Great article.
I like this, Em---it really is extremely hard to do! When your to-do list is a mile long, sometimes you just want everyone to go away so you can finish it. I was much better at it when I had only one.... but one of the best things about kids is they always forgive you!
Thanks for the link. This is something I've tried to consciously implement in our home. My daughter loves to help unload the dishwasher. So far, no broken dishes, but lots of smiles...and a lot of re-rinsing!

What a lovely painting....and she wrote a great article. I like to say that's me, minus the OCD party. I sent you an email!
