With the birth of our son in December, I was reminded of my intention to keep a cross on my children and recommitted myself to the task. I devised a plan to help make this important part of getting my children dressed a habit. I simply remove the cross pin from whatever they were wearing and pin it to whatever I am putting them in immediately. This means that they have their cross on whether they are wearing their pajamas or are in their fifth outfit of the day. There are times that I forget this step, but they are fewer and farther between then when I didn't make this a priority!

When my children were really small, even infant and toddler, I put their cross on a waxed leather cord and tied it around their neck with just enough room for a little growth but not enough room for it to snag on something. It was perfect! I loved it! I never had to worry about remembering to put it on them. But as they outgrew their cords I had not taken the time to make new ones. Ugh! Every once in awhile I see a picture of when they had it on and I'll think, "oh, I have got to get new cording". So I am reminded once again to go get new cording!!
Here is a post with a picture you can see of Joseph with his cross.

I don't know if that link will work had to break it up. But if you really want to see it it's form July 3, 2006.
I miss seeing those crosses around their necks.
What a nice tradition!
Forgive my ignorance, but can you tell more about why you all have your children wear crosses?
Great idea, Emma! I'm lucky if I can remember to have V. wears hers on Sundays. :S I also like Susan Sophia's idea.
I love this idea!! Audrey's chain is too long to wear all the time, and I often forget for Sundays. This would be perfect! Or the leather cord idea...but I can find a safety pin today!
Thanks
