Last year, Mary and I worked on a Children's Bible Reader reading schedule and coloring page project to supplement the fifty-two ornament Jesse Tree. Below, you'll find our reading schedule using the Children's Bible Reader. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, we've lost the coloring pages that we completed last year. Despite this loss, I think that you will enjoy reading Bible stories to your little ones each day. Our plan is to light a special candle each evening before we sit down together to read.
Update: Thanks to Leah, we have all of the coloring pages! I'll upload them each Monday to share with you all!

Mat. Emily,
I've looked though my files, and noticed that I have download most, if not all of the coloring sheets that were posted last year. If you send me you email, I'll send them to you.

This is the first year we are doing a Jesse Tree. In fact, I had never even heard of one before this year!! Looking forward to a new family tradition. Especially, such a meaningful one. Thank you for the resources.
That is great, Leah! I can't access your blog to get your e-mail address... my e-mail is emily@orthodoxws.com
Thank you!!
Thank you, Leah!
Emily, Let me know if Leah doesn't have all the coloring sheets. I know I do....somewhere. :) I still have a couple of weeks to find them. One of the perks of the old calendar is that your blog reminds me of what I need to get ready for a couple weeks before I'll need it.
thank you for this!
Hello! That's so much for the Jesse Tree resources. I was wondering, what Orthodox children's Bible do you use, that the readings are based off of? I would like to get my children one.
Hi Sarah!
We are using The Children's Bible Reader: http://www.orthodoxmarketplace.com/childrens-products/childrens-bible-reader-english-edition.html
We really like it!!
I'm a little confused about the coloring pages vs. ornaments for the Jesse Tree. Can you do one or the other or both?
- Alexandra
Hi Alexandra,
You can do that ornaments for the Jesse Tree or the coloring pages, or both. We decided to create the coloring pages for our little ones that would be as easy as handing them a printout from the computer and a box of crayons.
I hope that helps!!
This is such a great resource! Thank you so much for your generosity in blessing us with this. I am able to get Weeks 1 & 3to print (show up as Scrib pages) but I cannot get Week 2 or others to print. Do you have to do something special??
wonderful! I wish I had found this earlier!
I wanted to thank you for this resource. My children and I are doing the Jesse Tree this year for the first time, although they know all the stories since we've been reading to them from the Children's Bible Reader for years. It's fantastic!
I did want to point out that there are a few places where your list's readings and ornaments don't line up, in case that is confusing anyone else. Day 20 and 21 should be switched (so sheep first, then slingshot), according to the readings for those days. Then Days 30-33 are all switched around. If you go by the readings, it would be : Day 30 - Stone, Day 31 - Three Holy Youths, Day 32 - Ark of the Covenant, Day 33 - Cave. Finally, in the final week, Day 7 and Day 8 are reversed if you go by the readings, and Day 50's reading is not about a King, but rather the flight to Egypt, so it would be the sword. And Day 51, where you have a sword, is the song of Zachariah (other projects I've seen represent this with a dove).
I know it is hard to convey emotion and intent in written communication, so I hope you will take this in the spirit in which it was given. I am grateful for resource and only wanted to offer some help to anyone else working his or her way through it for the first time. Thank you so much.
Ladies, would love to do it with my kids and would love to get those coloring pages sent to me. Can anybody send it to elena.i.garrett@gmail.com please?
