One of the things that I didn't anticipate when we scheduled Button's baptism for the day following Dormition was that we kind of feel like we missed the feast. Thankfully, we celebrate Dormition for 8 days!
Are the shells significant for Dormition? Either way, it's a lovely collection. Congratulations on the Baptism of your little one! I always think Orthodox Baptisms are so beautiful. Do the children receive the Eucharist in your tradition? (I believe you're Greek Orthodox; I'm only really familiar with Russian)

The seashells are really just for summer... some of them were found on the beaches near our home and a few (like the starfish) are from the store.
As far as the baptism goes, our baby was not only Baptized, but also Confirmed and given Communion. All Orthodox Christians do all of that for infants. We are part of the Orthodox Church in America. Russian and Greek Orthodox really just refers to cultural differences (the music is slightly different, sometimes the language, and the vestments that the clergy wear)... it is kind of like the differences between Polish and Italian Roman Catholics. HTH!

Hi Bethany!
