Happy May Day!

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of our simple celebration of May Day today (I accidentally left the memory card out of the camera and my clicking away produced no images). We celebrated by spending lots of time outside today (even eating our cereal on the front porch this morning!) and by stopping by the garden center for some little potted flowers for each of our nearest neighbors. I cut little hearts out of some watercolor paintings that the children did, wrote "Happy May Day" on each, and tied them to each pot with some yarn. The little ones happily ran to each house and plopped the flowers down on the steps and ran away giggling. It was too cute!
Did you celebrate May Day today?

We did the same w/ flowers in pots, but we had bought them the day before. So my DC snuck around & put the flowers on each neighbor's porch the night before.

Reading this brought back memories. When I was little, on May Day my mother would cut bouquets from her garden. I would be sent to leave one on the door of our elderly neighbor. I would ring her bell and run away as fast as I could, and she would chase me and try to kiss me (the part I hated!). We've never had near neighbors to do that with my children....
