Feasting...

The weather is still quite hot and humid.  I'm pining for autumn in the worst way, which I think is because I've been watching little Instagram videos for someone living in Latvia where it is already in the 50's and 60's.  It'll be October before things cool down here.

Today is Dormition and we have my father-in-law here for the next few days.  Now that we aren't fasting, I'm really looking forward to cooking again.  We had a nice family breakfast after Liturgy this morning and I made a big dinner tonight before Vespers (baked chicken, potatoes with cheese and bacon, and a huge salad with feta).  There's Liturgy again tomorrow morning for our parish's patronal feastday, so I think we'll have something festive again after church and then I'm planning beef stroganoff for dinner.   Oh, I bought plums to make a plum torte.  It's an August tradition.

I borrowed another Anne Tyler book from the library this afternoon and really want to start reading it.  I'm afraid if I start reading now, though, I won't get to bed until the wee hours.  Decisions, decisions.
