The fabric is washed and ironed, the pattern printed (an @ginareneedesigns #pollyannapocketdress), and the daughter measured. Now, to trace the pieces of the pattern in her size. 

A Ginger Linen Wiksten Haiori

I finally got to wear the beautiful ginger linen jacket my talented sister, Kate, sewed for me when she visited in July. The pattern is the Wiksten Haiori and it is the shorter version in a size large. Many thanks to my friend, Mirona, for snapping my picture after Liturgy today!

Palest Pink Geranium Dress

 

Our darling girl sewed this Geranium Dress (with her grandmother's oversight) in one day.  I am so proud of her!  The pale pink linen is so lovely and the pattern was easy for our girl to follow.  It is wonderful to see our daughter create such beautiful and useful things.  She will soon be helping her aunt sew two more dresses just like this one for the other two lady cousins in our family.  I can't wait to take photographs of the three of them together!

September is for Skirts: Day Four

 

  Kate and I wore our new skirts out today and we loooooove them!  

In other news, Kate wanted an autumn wreath for her front door, so we popped in to Michaels and bought some materials to make one.

In only three days, Kate was able to finish three of the four Oliver+S Everyday skirts!  The fourth skirt will be completed tomorrow after a quick trip to the store for a little more elastic.  I just love the drape and color of the fabric (Merchant and Mills Linen)!

While my little girl and I made blueberry muffins for breakfast this morning, Kate finished all of the edges of the pieces for four skirts.  By the end of the day, there was so much done!  She was able to do the pockets, front panel gathering, and the side panels!

We are so lucky!  Kate and and her little ones are visiting for the next four days and we are planning to sew as much as we can on four Oliver + S Everyday Skirts.  When she visited last, we placed an order for some beautiful linen in black and silt (which is the perfect gray) and I am so happy with the quality.  These skirts are going to be amazing additions to our wardrobes!

Today was the first great feast of the Liturgical year.  Normally, we have church services on the eve of the feast and then again on the day of the feast, but because Father John is still recovering from his surgery, we only had an Akathist for The Nativity of the Mother of God this morning.  I made a carrot cake for dessert tonight to celebrate the feast...  I always think of carrot cake as a good early autumn treat.

Kate and I are making such good progress on our chambray skirts!  She cut everything out yesterday while I made dinner and then once the little ones were in bed, we ironed and finished the pieces and started putting the pockets and fronts together.  Today was spent finishing up everything else except the hemming!  I can't wait to wear these gorgeous things!
