From Frumpy to Fabulous in Three Weeks: Day Twelve...

Day Twelve: Reading for Pleasure

When one's day is already packed with a long list of "To Do's", it is not easy to fit in reading. You'll be glad if you do though! Reading a bit from the Anne books each day is my little respite from the daily grind. I am reading Anne of Ingleside right now (at an embarrassingly slow pace!) and am loving the images of motherhood and home life. Once I finish these, I'm going to continue with any Miss Read books I can get my hands on!

What are you reading for pleasure?

I'm reading the 'Little House' series. You are right, it's SO WORTH it to have something to read at the end of the day. Half an hour (or more) of reading is such a treat.
When I'm done with this series, I want to tackle the "Anne" books. You inspired me :)

I'm re-reading Hardball: A Season in the Projects right now. I should finish it today, but I'm not sure what's next on my list. We need to make a trip to the library!

I very much agree - when kids are little you don't read as much, but you should always get a bit in.

And, then, I speak from experience, when they are older, you can read a lot more! Yay!

Hello, I am a new reader to your blog. I enjoy your blog very much especially the challenge you have going on right now. It is very inspiring and encouraging. Thank you.

I just got down reading White Chocolate Moments by Lori Wick the other day. I am hoping to order me some books soon. I would love to get more Lori Wick books and some older classics.

Reading is very important to me and we teach our children to enjoy it as well. Not only do I read to them but we have a time when they get their favoriate book and set and look at the pictures. They are to young for reading the pages but they look at the pictures and enjoy telling us what is going on.

I don't comment very often, but I am a faithful reader of your blog! I am loving the 'Frumpy to Fabulous' series!

I just started reading "Murder Most Royal" last night, about Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard.

I generally switch between more 'heavy, serious' books and lighthearted charming books, such as the "Anne" books. I love Anne! My next in the series will be "Anne's House of Dreams".

Oh! Oh! I just *love* Miss Read! I first discovered her in 1982 at the public library, and over the years have collected all her Thrush Green and Fairacre books. Her use of dialect is masterful, don't you think?

I read an awful lot but one children's series I always return to is the Chalet School books. They were written from 1920s to 1960s and are set in Austria, Wales and Switzerland.
