Button's birthday cake was a two layer vanilla confection with vanilla pudding and strawberries in the center and whipped cream on top. I had hopes of decorating the top with some strawberry leaves, a strawberry flower and strawberries, but that somehow didn't happen. It was pretty good though! There may or may not be a slice hiding in the fridge for Mama to enjoy after bedtime!
Oh, I do have to say that I was always afraid of making two layer cakes, but they really aren't that tricky. My friend Kelly encouraged me to give it a go, and I have found that as long as I butter the pans well and let the cakes cool for 30 minutes, they slip right out to finish cooling on wire racks.
