2021 Bûche de Noël

Our 2021 Bûche de Noël! There have been prettier ones, but our dinner was a bit more complicated this year and so I just did the best I could. It was still delicious!

Candlelit Nativity

I love the scene in Take Peace when Tasha Tudor and her family hike through the snowy woods to candlelit Nativity figures. I've done the same for the past few years for after Matins. Someday I'd like to have larger, maybe even life sized ones to set

Christmas Films

Our daughter helped me put up the Christmas tree tonight while watching Little Women (1994). What are your must see Christmas movies? Mine are: Little Women, While You Were Sleeping, You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, Home by Christmas (a cheesy Lifetime movie, but I love it!), The Family Stone, and Prep & Landing. There may be more... I'll add to this list as I remember. What are yours?

Just a Few More

I'm working on a few more botanical ornaments tonight. It's our first night of Christmas break and I'm so excited!

An Early American Christmas

If you're looking for a good Christmas book, you may like this one! I borrowed it from the library to read to first graders last week and loved it!

Fleur Ornaments

I have wanted to buy glass ornaments filled with dried flowers for several years (a flower farmer near us sells them at her stand), but they have been sold out each time we've gone. This past Saturday, my daughter and I bought a bouquet of dried flowers from the farmer, a box of clear glass ornaments, and made our own. I love them! It was so much fun to do this little project and the result is so beautiful! One has to be gentle when pushing brittle flowers through the fragile opening of the ornament, but it can be done!

The Beauty of Stacked Wood

Our first delivery of wood arrived this week. Our middle child stacked it with me, which gave us some time to chat together while we worked. I cannot believe that he will be fourteen on Sunday.

Nursery Inspiration

I visited this nursery on Sunday for some saucers to put under my paperwhite pots. It's only 10 minutes from the house and such a good source of inspiration. You should see their house plant collection!

Handknits by Our Daughter

Our daughter knit this darling little dolly for a friend's newborn. She's already hard at work on a second one which will be striped!

Namesday Gifts

I found this wrapping paper at Michael's a few weeks ago and love it. It looks so nice with this velvet ochre ribbon.

Christmas Cheer

Our daughter was looking for ways to add a little Christmas cheer to her wire paper display, so I casually mentioned that she could make a swag for the top using cuttings from the trees and bushes around the rectory. Less than 30 minutes later... Voilà!
