Visiting Williamsburg: An Elegant Little Restaurant
We ate in a very elegant little restaurant while on vacation, and I enjoyed looking at all of the details in the dining room. My favorite one was the lovely lace curtains in the windows.

Visiting Williamsburg: Baskets of Work
One of the things that has delighted me while people-watching in Colonial Williamsburg, is that the historical interpreters carry around baskets with a bit of handwork or books to keep themselves busy during the lulls in their day. I saw many people reading, some sewing, and even one industrious lady knitting a turkey red wool stocking on double pointed needles!

Visiting Williamsburg: Colonial Children and Tiger Lilies
The children spent most of their birthday money on costumes on our first full day of vacation. They love to dress up and use their imagination, so I think that they will remain pleased with their purchases. They wore them to watch a performance this morning that was held near this bank of Tiger Lilies.

A Birthday and a Vacation
Our little boy turned seven today and we left for a little four day vacation in Williamsburg, Virginia. We decided to kick off the festivities with a few hours at a water park and had a great time! We were ravenous when we finished at the park, and after tidying up, had dinner in a gorgeous restaurant on the outskirts of Colonial Williamsburg. After dinner (which included the Birthday boy's favorite: mussels!), we took a stroll around the grounds of the College of William and Mary and the streets of Colonial Williamsburg. Everything is breathtakingly beautiful, the weather is perfect, and we have to keep pinching ourselves... This trip has been on our bucket-list for awhile!

Road Trip Essentials
We're heading out on a little family vacation tomorrow morning and I am packing my road trip essentials tonight: yarn for more dishcloths, a new (short) book, headphones for late night hotel listening, and a shawl to ward off the chill.

Firsts
Joyous Feast of Pentecost! Our littlest fellow began serving in the Altar for Saturday night's Vespers. He's been looking forward to this day for so long and was beaming with pride and joy. He'll be seven on Tuesday and there are many firsts in store for him in the coming weeks.

Juliana, Sampson, and Vivienne
This past week has been a dream. My sister, Juliana, and her two little ones have been visiting us while Juliana's husband is away. It has been a lovely visit with lots of low key fun! I'm so sad that our time together has come to a close, but we've already planned a few more visits before the summer is out.

Rose Gold and Pearly White
I'm channeling these colors for my spring and summer wardrobe this year. This is the first season that I don't need to add any clothing or accessories to my closet and because I have stuck to a very neutral palette (black, different shapes of grey, and saddle) in the past, the rose gold linen shawl and pearl earrings will fit right in with what I already have, but still spice things up.

Little Spaces
This is one of my favorite areas in our little girl's room. The photograph is of her saint, Saint Elisabeth the New Martyr, who as the granddaughter of Queen Victoria.
