I am drowning in a sea of knitting frustration! My project this week is the Edith Shawl. It is a project that I am working on with several ladies from my Thursday Knit Night group and it is hard! I began this shawl last Thursday and have ripped it out too many times to count! What I have here is far from perfect, but I am going to try to just keep moving.
I did make myself feel a bit better by quickly crocheting scarves (who knew that I would remember how to crochet? I learned when I was a wee one!) for our family of bears tonight! They were made while I waited for a cake to bake and were very satisfying... much more so than making scarves for humans!
I am happily reading Farewell to the East End by Jennifer Worth. It is as good as her other two! I am recommending her books to everyone I know!

Oh, stupid lace! I wonder if I will ever learn to like knitting it...brave you!

ReplyDeleteI have been so impressed by your determination to knit, and all the projects you've turned out so far. I'm still working on a scarf I started about four years ago.... Take heart, in the grand scheme of things you are becoming quite a knitter.
ReplyDeleteWould putting stitch markers between each lace repeat help? I know that that helps me when I do lace. That way I can count the stitches and easily see where I've gone wrong if I make a mistake.
ReplyDeleteYour knitting encourages me as well! My daughter (12) tries to teach me a very simple stitch LAST December ... and that was that!

ReplyDeleteWifeMomKnitter, thank you for the suggestion of using stitch markers. I cast on yet again last night and it was amazing how much easier knitting the lace became! Revolutionizing!
Kathi, I have been knitting since July. I attempted to learn four or five other times in the past three years and finally something clicked! I am very thankful for my Thursday night group. I am able to learn and also it keeps me working on my knitting during the week so that I have something to show!
