Another nice butterfly craft, similar to the magazine butterflies, is to paint coffee filters with watercolors. The colors spread through the filter. Let the coffee filters dry, then scrunch them up with a clothespin (or you could use pipecleaners). The clothespin can be painted or decorated to look like a butterfly body.
