This was such a fun and easy craft! I am hoping to find some doilies at a thrift store or two so that I can make a few more! I am envisioning a whole bunch of these on the mantle in January and February once the Christmas decorations are packed up and the house needs a little cheering.

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of candles do you put in here? If you use a votive, how far down do you let it burn and then how do you clean it out of the jar afterwards? Also, do you just use paraffin candles or do you have a good source for beeswax/soy ones that's not uber expensive? These look so pretty - wish I had some doilies!
I think that any candle would work, Jen. I got these beeswax ones at my local health food store (I get my beeswax tapers at church). I just found a ton of listings on etsy for beeswax tea lights... many are in little metal or plastic cups - which would make cleanup easier. Mine weren't in a cup, but with a little patience, I was able to use a knife to get the wax out. In the future though, I think that I will go with something in a cup.

ReplyDeleteI'm planning a rustic wedding, with the reception being held in a barn. I was going to use mason jars, decorated with barb wire hearts, as vases. Now I think I'll throw a few of these in there! Thanks!
