The Blue Bedroom...

"Sunbursts and marble halls may be all very well, but there is more 'scope for imagination' without them... Oh, dreams will be very sweet now."

  2. It is very serene, although I still can't get over the lack of crown molding and the lack of molding around the windows. I grew up in an old house abundant in molding and moved into a 1950's house that has molding. I'm just so used to seeing it that seeing homes without look different to me.

  3. Funny that you mention the molding, Kate! My husband wants to put it up along the ceiling and I am also hoping that he will do a cornice for the top of the window. I can't wait to take down the blinds (or at least hide them with curtains), but I have nothing to replace them with yet, but hopefully that will be done soon.

  4. I love the decorations over your bed! And of course the color. :) We have all white bedding in our house too, for both beds. I love it!

  10. Thanks everyone! Such sweet comments!

Kyrie - there are two things that must be white in our house: dishes and bedding! :)

  11. Ahhh, lovely! Our bedroom is blue too (color picked out by Fr. Justin). I have really enjoyed the diversity of the color. Everything else in our room is browns, creams and tans. It's a very soothing color.

    Beautiful!

  12. Very nice! I grew up in a house where my mother did not want color on the walls-- all off-white. We painted our first house many different shades: from pale yellow in the bedroom to "malted milk" in my office, but not in our "forever home" I find myself wanted to stick with very pale, neutral colors. I love this, however! I'll live vicariously through you!

  14. Have you ever read LMM's "The Blue Castle"? It's a favorite of mine, and this room looks like something Valancy would have in her castle in the sky.
