The children received a picture book, Winter by Gerda Muller today. They did a pretty good job of looking at the pictures together, though our daughter was rather possessive of the book when her brother dared to touch it.
In other news, I've begun knitting! I was given a dvd and huge ball of yarn from a friend for Christmas and I tried it out last night for the first time. Though I had my doubts that one could learn to knit from a dvd, I have! Yay!Edited to Add: I was given The Yarn Ball set. I could only find it on ebay, but I think that it is a worthwhile purchase...

If you aren't careful, it will take over your life, instantly de-stress you, and lead you down the winding wool path to the World of Sheep, and before you know it you will end up a Certified Wool Snob. PS: I *highly* recommend Elizabeth Zimmermann's books. I have them all -- she was the one who charmed me out of following books and into creating my own ewe-nique patterns. Welcome to the Sisterhood of Knitters! PPS: The Mitten is one of my all-time favorite books!

Oh,how wonderful that you too have joined the new knitters. I am a recent 'convert'. I used to embroider, as well as crochet, but a mistake in yarn buying lead me to try knitting. I am hooked. Especially since I learned that knitting is so much more frugal than crochet. It uses a lot less yarn.

Hi. I was led to your blog by something about femininity on Pieces From Me's blog. Can you tell me how to join/get involved in that? I'd like to learn more. I think it is wonderful that you are knitting. I'd like to learn that someday. I've been a scrapbooker for almost 10 years now (I can't believe that!) and I enjoy rubber stamping, too.
