What I Wore Wednesday

This was my outfit yesterday. Please pardon the wrinkles! I had on a white boat neck sweater and my denim jacket from The Gap and a new chocolate linen skirt that I know will be one of my favorites this summer! It is the perfect shape! I love that it skims my hips at the top (not too tight and not too loose), but becomes full and floaty as it descends to my ankles! What is this style skirt called? Another thing that I like about this skirt is the fact that it has feminine detail (the hemstitch), but isn't too frou-frou.

I was able to wear my sandals for the first time this year and though I had my doubts, I wasn't too cold. When we were at church, I popped on this cute little scarf and used my trusty bag to carry the essentials. I am going to remove the bit of linen with beads that I tied to the handle last night. It is not working for me!

  2. Emma, I'd just like to say that I love how you are able to put together such lovely, feminine outfits that are very modest...but do not look "Amish" in any way. Many ladies seem to confuse the two I'm afraid. You have a great look.

  3. Have to say again that I love it! Where did you get the skirt? I've been trying to find things like that for spring/summer, but haven't had much luck. I like long, full skirts for chasing after the baby. Things I can PLAY in!

  5. I agree. Your outfit are so feminine and beautiful. You really do inspire me to dress better and take care of my self.

I really do want to dress nicer, more femininely, but modern. I did the whole Amish or Little House on the Prairie look in the past, and hubby and I both hated it. Now I think I look like a frump who buys her clothes at the thrift store. I do thrift shop alot, but how on earth do I make it not look like it?

  6. I think your skirt is a 'gored' skirt - if you count the sections you'll know how many 'gores' there are. I just bought a spring gored linen skirt, lined - very long and 'swirly' on clearance from C.J. Banks - I'm a plus sized woman and I love the quality of their reasonably priced clothing. It has 8 gores and is very flattering! I think this stlye looks good on almost all figure types!

  7. The brown skirt looks like a tiered skirt. It's a chic looking outfit. I have your sandals in turquoise, brown and an orange color. I really like them.....
    Also, I enjoyed your blog....

  8. Thanks, ladies! You're making me blush!

I got the skirt at Marshall's for $19.99... The brand is Carole Little. Hope that helps, Courtney!

  9. Marshall's...ah, what a place for deals!! My mom is always finding cute things for the baby! I'll have to tell her to keep her eye out for things for me. I did find a long linen skirt at Old Navy this weekend. Not that "swirly" but pretty flexible for lots of movement! Have you ever shopped at Kohl's? Sometimes I find really good deals there too.

  10. I would really like to know where you got the scarf as well. I am looking for a pretty brown scarf but all I seem to be able to find are browns and blacks.

    Beautiful outfit!

  13. Marshall's my number one faovrite store, Courtney! I can almost alwaysfind something there whether it's housewares, clothing, shoes, toys, etc. I love their prices, too!

    Hi Kim!

The scarf I was wearing was a Ralph Lauren one from a few years ago. I'll keep an eye out for you... stores usually carry them in the fall.

  14. TJ Maxx has some great scarves, too. Have you checked out Lands' End sales? They have had some lovely dresses on sale lately. I do enjoy seeing the outfits you put together, Matushka. Today has been sunny and windy and it would be a great day for a nice floaty skirt.
