Really interesting, alot to think about. I have learned a few similar things in my marriage, tho I thought Of them as evidence I was maturing..not that I was training him... My husband is great and kind and never yells. But one day he got really angry because i pour his diet coke too quickly (I think it is silly) he angrily threw the contents into the sink, really unlike him. Instead of getting angry, I just started setting up his diet coke-get the glass, put in the ice, the lemon, pop the top on the can, but then i set it down in front of him. He got the message that he behaved horribly, but was not threatened. No fight. He loses his keys and wallet often, which drives me crazy. I don't nag tho, just go thru the motions of looking for him and then offer to start calling the bank to cancel cards-no judgement there...no fight either.
thanks for sharing this article, i liked it.Hen Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17237819297457183820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6212550248931823866.post-80570320795085286352007-03-27T17:07:00.000-04:002007-03-27T17:07:00.000-04:00I thought that message was great (especially that ...I thought that message was great (especially that the author needed changing herself), but I totally agree that the idea of comparing her hubby to a trained animal was rather distasteful!MamaBirdEmmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08953172914077823820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6212550248931823866.post-47325923831565154092007-03-26T22:04:00.000-04:002007-03-26T22:04:00.000-04:00I think people are emailing that around as a forwa...I think people are emailing that around as a forward because I have definitely read it before- but it was worth it to read it again!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6212550248931823866.post-40027977848031414922007-03-26T03:02:00.000-04:002007-03-26T03:02:00.000-04:00If I were her husband and read this, I wouldn't be...If I were her husband and read this, I wouldn't be too pleased, that's for sure....

After all, he's being portrayed like a little kid who she has to raise.. or even worse, an animal....

:SAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6212550248931823866.post-38900395262355352252007-03-25T21:56:00.000-04:002007-03-25T21:56:00.000-04:00YES! When I first saw this article in the NYT, I ...YES! When I first saw this article in the NYT, I clipped it and put in my advice folder for my newlywed daughter. A few weeks later, our pastor quoted from it in his sermon. Nagging and acting like a martyr certainly have the opposite effect! Whenever I find myself grumbling about hair in the sink or dirty dishes RIGHT AFTER I WASHED THEM, I try to remember how much DH does for us each day (going out to work), and just (try to) grin and bear it. He has his job, and I have mine. I hope I'm making his job a little easier by being cheerful in mine!Courtneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06397886444398204729noreply@blogger.com
