I've heard really negative reviews on my KS list, but then they aren't generally fans of Sullivan anyway. I probably won't watch it...I'll probably read Before Green Gables at some point, however.
I may someday watch this out of sheer curiosity...It can't be that much worse than that "Continuing Story" business. That said, I agree about that little girl shrieking all of her lines...and find it a bit sad that when Lucy Maud left SO MUCH good material about Anne that Sullivan feels the need to make up their own vastly inferior material for the sake of profit.
Wow. I couldn't even understand what was going on in the preview. I had to go to imdb to read a synopsis. All I have to say after that is, "What a load of codswallop!"
I have never cared for the extreme deviation from the "real" Anne Shirley-Blythe that the movies took and this just makes it worse. Being a big fan of stay-home-mothers, devoted wives and large families, the books gave me everything I ever wanted from the story. Gilbert fighting in WWI- indeed!
That said, Shirley MacLaine (never a favorite) looks great!
My favorite part of the books is when Anne grows up and has six kids. Where is that movie? Why oh why did they take such a wonderful character and ruin her? Wasn't her honesty the reason Marilla kept her in the first place? So now we are supposed to believe that she lied?
NNNOOOOOOOO- We watch the first and second Anne mini-series plus Road to Avonlea (I know they aren't just like the books- but it doesn't bother me like messing around with Anne)
I've seen previews to an Anne CARTTON- horrible animation....horrible all around...and SAD
It's not megan fellows. The end. *wink*

ReplyDeleteWho told that little girl to shriek all of her lines?
ReplyDeleteThe preview isn't impressing me. I can't even understand what's supposed to be happening.
ReplyDeleteYes, Megan Follows is all the Anne I need. I might watch this out of curiosity, though.

ReplyDeleteThis trailer might be a little more cohesive. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why Sullivan felt the need to veer so far from the books in the last two movies...
ReplyDeleteand where is Megan?
I love Anne, but I don't know about this.

Not really interested. I'll stick to the books and the Megan-starred movies. If I want more Avonlea, I might indulge in the Road to Avonlea series.

I'll probably watch it, but... enh. It looks like the sort of thing that could be fun to watch if it wasn't pretending to be about Anne.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine Shirly Maclaine in "Anne",
ReplyDeleteHas anyone read the book? I've started an online book club at Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning and I would love to have you join me!
