If your family has been enjoying clementines as much as mine has, don't forget to toss the skins down your garbage disposal. The oils in citrus fruit impart a lovely fragrance that deodorizes your disposal for free! I've also found that the boxes are lovely when used for organizing! Here are my daughter's "cleaning supplies" neatly boxed up ready for her to use! The boxes are sturdy and light... perfect for her little hands. Just be sure to check them for rough bits of wood. It would be terrible for a little finger to get a splinter!
Oh, is the elephant the little dustbuster you were telling me about? What a great idea. Now tell that little girl to get to work! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love clementine boxes. All my dishtowels are in one on my counter, since I have little storage space in my kitchen. Yours is a good use, too!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing you can do for your dd with a clementine box is make a baby (or cuddly) bed. Flip it over, add some sort of padding, like batting or just extra fabric, and use a hot glue gun to attach fabric of your choice. I also made little pillows of scrap fabric and cut a square of fabric for a coverlet. I did this for my two daughters and my niece. They loved them! I hope my directions make some sense.

I have used clementine boxes to organize deep drawers, too. They are more heavy duty than about anything else.

Oh how I dream of the day I have a garbage disposal!!! And don't worry, as soon as I do, I will try this! I've heard of it with lemons, but this is a great idea. We have oranges/clementines in the house way more often!
ReplyDeleteWe always put clementines int he children's stockings at Christmas time since they are so sweet and easy to peel. Much better than candy, in everyone's opinion!
ReplyDeleteWe love Clementines. We call them Cuties around here. Grom (3) has taken to peeling them for everyone. He really likes peeling almost as much as eating them.
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago I surveyed and received cases of Clems for payment. That was a good year.
mm, love clementines and I always forget that they are out around this time every year!! yippppeeee
